Tools and calculators
Since the all technical and economic characteristics of all technologies are the different, it is always important to choose the most practical solution. In this page, you can estimate the size of the required sown area, find out the possible yield of sugar beet and choose the most suitable performance of the sugar factory. You can also choose other types of raw materials and find the most optimal technological solution for the planned sugar plant.
Yield and compatible factories
Sequence of actions:
¹ In this field, specify the total area of arable fields in hectares.
² Select from the list the appropriate value of the average yield of sugar beet in tons per hectare.
³ Select the desired crop rotation value from the list.
⁴ This field displays the total amount of sugar beet that can be grown in a year without using crop rotation.
⁵ This field displays the annual harvest of sugar beet - the amount of sugar beet that can be grown using crop rotation.
The value obtained in the ⁵ field is used in the "Find a suitable sugar factory" tool to determine the correct nominal capacity of the sugar factory.Standard capacity of sugar factories in terms of tonnes of sugar beet processed per day (TBD)⁴:
- Small capacity:50, 100, 200, 500
- Mid capacity:1000, 1500, 2000, 3000
- High capacity:5000, 6000, 10000, 12000
Sequence of actions:
¹ Enter in this field the annual sugar beet harvest - the amount of sugar beet that will be grown using crop rotation. Minimum annual volume of sugar beet by default: 6000 tons.
² Select from the list the appropriate value of sugar beet processing duration.
³ This field displays the amount of sugar beet that will be processed daily, depending on the selected duration of production, i.e. the total amount of sugar beet will be distributed in equal parts for all days of the selected production period.
⁴ Sugar factories are classified according to the established nominal performance, also called capacity, which means the productivity of a sugar factory in terms of tons of processed sugar beet per day (TBD).
⁵ The most suitable sugar factory that can process the specified amount of sugar beet daily in accordance with the established nominal capacity. The nominal capacity of the sugar factory means that during the entire working period, this amount of raw materials will be processed daily.
⁶ During the distribution of raw materials during the entire production period, there may be a shortage of the daily norm of sugar beet necessary for stable production. In accordance with the nominal capacity of the sugar factory, the feed of raw materials should be continuous and maximum. The smaller the reserve of production for raw materials, the more economical the production will be. Lack of raw material in tons should not exceed 3-10% of the installed capacity of the plant.
⁷ Same as in point ⁶, but here the approximate daily reserve of productivity of the sugar plant is indicated in terms of sugar beets in percent.
To find the most suitable sugar factory by productivity, try to set a different production duration. The calculator will automatically select the most suitable option for you. Make sure that the value in point ³ is closer to the capacity of the recommended sugar factory, and the reserve of productivity is the smallest. This calculator is used to calculate the average annual sugar beet yield, including crop rotation. The field "Annual sugar beet yield without crop rotation" shall show the sugar beet yield from the plot of the specified area, if the crop rotation is already applied to this area. Sugar beets should be grown on good soil (carbonate or gley loam). When not all of the land is suitable, a separate crop rotation of sugar beets should be established and up to 25% of the area should be allocated for them. The most suitable pre-sowing is winter crops. Often in a crop rotation, sugar beets cover only 17% of the total area. In order to increase the area of beet, the third or fifth member of the crop rotation may be waived. After calculating the possible annual sugar beet harvest, using the "Find a suitable sugar factory" tool, you can easily select a sugar factory of the required capacity. This tool will allow you to find out what the productivity of a sugar factory is required for processing the annual sugar beet harvest, and will also indicate for what optimal period it can be processed.
Productivity by raw material
Quite a few entrepreneurs planning a sugar production business do not know how to choose the right capacity of a sugar factory, let alone what the result will be. Some choose a sugar factory based on the annual sugar production, but this method is incorrect. The fact is that no one knows what the yield or sugar content of sugar beets will be. These indicators can only be preliminary and planned. Another important point is that the capacity of all sugar factories is fixed and they can process sugar beet no more than their technical capabilities allow, and the amount of sugar produced directly depends not only on the capacity of the factories, but also on the sugar content of the processed sugar beet. If you plan to process only alternative raw materials, it is not necessary to take into account the parameters of sugar beet, but it is necessary to choose the appropriate raw materials and the desired duration of its processing. Using the practical calculator provided, evaluate your options and choose the most appropriate solution.
Compare technologies
Sequence of actions:
Use this graphical comparison of the performance of SUSEP technology and conventional technology by sugar production on the sugar beet processing. Since SUSEP technology is a very stable production process, the graph shows only one overall indicator, which shows the average amount of sugar produced per day. The stability of SUSEP technology is guaranteed by a high level of automation, which not only controls the production process itself, but also informs the staff about the necessary timely replacement of filter elements. For traditional sugar production technology, MINIMUM and MAXIMUM indicators are provided, since production volumes are highly dependent on the wear and tear of the factory equipment and the work of technologists. To create a chart you need to do:
- Select from the list the level of sugar factory you need by productivity.
- Select the nominal productivity of the sugar factory from the list..
- Select the average possible sugar beet sugar content from the list.
- The resulting graph will provide a comparison of production indicators of different nominal capacities, the same productivity group, depending on the sugar content of sugar beet.
- Depending on the device you are using, select the data you want to display by hovering over the graph with your computer mouse or finger.
- To change the analyzed parameters of the sugar factory, select other data from the drop-down lists.
- Abbreviations: CSPT - conventional sugar production technology.
The unique SUSEP technology allows you to reduce losses and provide a large sugar output.

Compare the sugar output of SUSEP technology with conventional sugar production technology.
ATTENTION! All the theoretical results obtained above may differ slightly from the actual ones due to the properties of the raw materials, composition, as well as the condition and general wear of the technological equipment of the sugar factory. SUSEP technology is not a standard sugar production technology and has nothing to do with the usual process of purification of sugar-containing juice. SUSEP technology does not use chemicals and chemical compounds containing them. The calculations carried out can only be used for a general assessment of the possibilities when choosing a more suitable sugar factory in terms of productivity, depending on the quantity and type of raw materials.
